Sandy Zani lives in Pensacola, Florida in a private home with a garden. She also had three cats, Pooter, Gilligan and Sophia.
In June 2017, Sandy went out to get some fresh air in the garden and suddenly heard some strange, barely audible sounds. When Sandy heard the sound again a little later, she decided to find where it came from.
“I started exploring everything in the garden and found this little black ball of fur in the rose bushes.”
Sandy could not understand how such a tiny kitten could get into her garden, since the garden was surrounded by a strong and secure fence. But she understood that the kitten urgently needed proper care and that it needed to be fed, because it was probably crying from hunger.
Sandy brought the baby into the house and made a bed for him out of a cardboard box. Her gray cat Pooter was very surprised by the appearance of a new tenant in the house.
That night Sandy had to get up every two hours to feed the kitten milk. This is considered to be the correct feeding regimen for small kittens. She named the kitten Kieran von Fluffypaws (Kieran Fluffy Paws).
Later, Sandy took the kitten to the veterinary clinic for a checkup. The veterinarian said that the kitten was only 2 weeks old and that he needed to continue to be fed and cared for around the clock. When Sandy was at work, her friend took care of Kieran.
Soon the kitten grew stronger and began to run around the house and play. He especially liked playing with Sandy's feet, or rather with the laces on her sneakers.
Kieran grew quickly and looked like a miniature black panther. He was very active and brave.
At the next appointment with the veterinarian, he did not run away, but bravely walked around the table near the laptop.
Sandy's other cats - Pooter, Gilligan and Sophia (all three were also rescued from the street or taken from a shelter) quickly accepted the kitten into their circle and even began to take care of him, licking him. Kieran quickly got used to sleeping under the warm side of Pooter.
Almost a year has passed since then and Kieran has grown into an almost adult, beautiful black cat. Of his old habits, one remained unchanged. He still loves to play with Sandy's feet and her shoelaces.
Kieran has already become the size of Pooter, but still loves to lie next to him.
