The fox got lost in the corridors of a military battery (3 photos + 1 video)
At the beginning of February, messages appeared on social networks about a fox that was in trouble on Russky Island (Peter the Great Bay, Sea of Japan). The animal was found in the ruins of an old military battery. The poor thing wandered around the dungeon and could not find a way out...
Local residents felt empathy for the wild animal and formed a team to help him.
“We collected the equipment. In the evening, after work, about 10 of us went there. Having gone downstairs, the battery is large, we wandered around it and in the lowest tier we found a fox, at first it ran away as best it could,” said Artyom, a participant in the rescue operation.
The fox was scared, but the young people still managed to catch it. The poor fellow was wrapped in a blanket and taken out of the dungeon. Rescuers turned to the Sadgorod Zoo for help, whose employees assisted in delivering the animal to the Vladivostok veterinary clinic.
The doctors agreed to examine the fox completely free of charge.
Several small wounds were found on the animal’s body; fortunately, they did not pose any danger. Veterinarians assure that the fox could not have ended up in the battery area of its own free will; most likely, the dogs drove it there.
The doctors decided to leave the animal in the clinic for several days and monitor its condition.
Veterinarians were convinced that the fox was feeling well, and on February 5 they decided to release her. They entrusted this important task to those young people who had recently saved the poor man.
The animal was taken to the forest and released from its cage. The fox hesitated for several minutes, but then quickly ran away, without even taking with him a gift from the rescuers - a noble piece of meat.
The rescue of this forest dweller is an important event, because on Russky Island the fox population is rapidly declining.
