A sly fox comes into the house to sleep on the cat's bed
Mellonie Blasi had just woken up for work one morning last week and was wandering into the bathroom to brush her teeth when she noticed something was in her cat's bed—and it certainly wasn't a cat.
“When I walked past the kitchen, I noticed these pretty big ears,” Blasi said. “I had one foot in the bath and one foot in the gym, and I stepped back to take another look. Yes, those weren't cat ears!
They belonged to a fox who climbed in through the open window and took the place of Blasi the cat in the cat's bed, while the cat herself was in the garden.
Blasi turned on the light and instead of rushing out the window he came from, the fox just looked at her.
“I looked at her and she looked at me,” Blasi said. "She wasn't scared of me at all."
Not knowing what to do, Blasi tried to think of who she could call for help. At that moment, Blasi's cat, George, jumped up through the bathroom window and began hissing at the fox, as she was clearly not ready to share her bed with anyone else.
“The fox wasn’t paying attention,” Blasi said. "She acted like another family member who had been there for years and was confused about what all the fuss was about."
Seeing how calm the fox was and that he showed no signs of mange or illness, Blasi decided to tap on the bed to see if it would prompt him to leave. She then tilted the bed, but the fox stayed on it as long as he could until he finally jumped through the window.
“If I hadn’t closed the window after that, she would have come back for sure,” Blasi said. “She didn’t want to be outside - I think she was cold. After that, she sat by the window and looked at the cat.
