For his owners, Rex was a real member of the family. The head of the family, Natalya, and her son Konstantin adopted a German shepherd puppy when the pet was a month old. The four-legged friend did not lag behind the owners for a minute. On weekends, Kostya took Rex to relax in nature and swim in the river. And on weekdays, the family trained the puppy at the base for riot police dogs. The dog reciprocated the love of his owners, faithfully guarding the family estate. The faithful four-legged friend always held his post of honor in a kennel on the property of the house. When the owners returned from work, Rex, wagging his tail, rushed to meet them.

“It was like this every day until Rex disappeared,” recalls the dog’s owner, Natalya. “Our dog seemed to have disappeared into the ground. We didn’t keep him on a chain, but he never ran away from the gate either. He is a thoroughbred with a good pedigree. True, he was such a good-natured man. Most likely, it was simply stolen. Natalya and Kostya posted a missing person notice for Rex on the Internet, wrote to newspapers, talked about his search on the radio, and even tried to look for the dog through local television.

“We combed the area by car for two months,” shares the dog’s owner. “We fell for the tricks of scammers who claimed that they had allegedly found the dog and gave them money. We looked for him very carefully. However, everything was to no avail. We didn't want to take on new dogs for a long time. Although I was offered many purebred pets. All this time I felt like a miracle could happen. And then, seven years later, an unfamiliar woman knocked on the door and told us: “Your dog has been found!”

A stray, emaciated dog was caught in the village of Sadovy, which is 20 kilometers from Rex’s house. The sad watchdog lived near a grocery store, where passers-by fed him. Nobody knew how and when the dog appeared there. By that time, the dog was already barely dragging its paws from exhaustion. And the sick dog was sent for foster care.

“It was during the May holidays,” says the owner of the shelter, Marina. — I collect old German shepherds, so I took Rex. The dog was without a collar. His character is calm. A look wise in life. He climbed into the car with dignity and began to look thoughtfully out the window. A very noble dog. At home, I immediately lay down near the veranda to guard the house. Mistress Natalya immediately called her son and was glad that their Rex had been found! By that time, Konstantin had already grown up and started a family. But the owner did not forget his four-legged friend. The good news came to him while on a boat.

“Natalia and her daughter, who also remembered Rex, went to get the dog,” Marina continues. “When they arrived, the first thing they did was look at his teeth to check. "REX'S SECOND BIRTHDAY"

Rex was very thin and had trouble standing. Therefore, the owners immediately took him to the veterinary hospital, and after receiving him they began to treat and fatten him.

“Now he’s already running around the street, and asks to go home at night,” Rex’s owner laughs. “He’s like a person to us.” When we took him for an x-ray, he looked at us with such devoted eyes. If Rex could talk, he would tell what he experienced. He was being held somewhere. Rex's incisors are ground down. Either he was chewing on the chain or the cage. Then it was apparently thrown away. And he wandered. It was impossible to look at him without tears.

Rex's family is confident that he has not forgotten them.

“When Rex came to his senses, judging by his behavior, reaction and attitude towards us, he remembered everything,” says Natalya. “When we stroked him for the first time, it was as if tears were welling up in his eyes.” Real tears.
