A pod of killer whales was hunting off the coast of the Canadian province of British Columbia. Alas, for one of them, an ordinary hunt turned into a deadly situation - and then caring people came to the rescue.
After low tide, a young killer whale accidentally became trapped in a crevice between sharp rocks. She lay there, uttering pitiful cries, and her relatives swam not far from the shore, unable to help her.
A group of rescuers came to the rescue, to whom a passing ship reported an emergency situation via radio.
Rescuers arrived on shore, assessed the situation and immediately began to do everything to alleviate the killer whale’s suffering and somehow calm her down.
Wet blankets and buckets were used, from which the animal was constantly watered with sea water - after all, the main danger was drying out and burning the skin in the bright sun. When rescuers first arrived, the orca's breathing was fast and heavy; when they started pouring water on her, she gradually relaxed - as if she felt that she would be helped.
Someone might think that it was necessary to simply tie the killer whale with ropes and drag him to the water - but this was impossible, since she was stuck on sharp stones and the movement could seriously injure her. All the rescue team could do was wait for the tide. People were nearby, working diligently and tirelessly for eight long hours. Then the tide came in. When the water rose enough for the killer whale to swim away - she did it easily! And her flock had been waiting for her all this time, occasionally giving signals.
