India is an amazing country with many unique attractions. You cannot find places like these anywhere else in the world!

It is definitely worth mentioning the spiritual heritage of this country. You can feel the whole atmosphere of India by visiting the place we are going to talk about today.

Ajanta is a Buddhist temple complex, a man-made cave monastery, which consists of 29 temples and adjacent cells of hermit monks.

It is located in a very inaccessible place. From the nearest village you will have to walk about 10 km, and to civilization it is more than 100 km. But you definitely won’t regret it if you risk overcoming all this.

Back in 1819, British officer John Smith chased a tiger in these places. By chance he noticed the entrance to a cave in the bushes. Curiosity took over, and the warrior decided to abandon the hunt for the sake of the find. Soon he discovered various patterns on the walls, but the man did not yet know that this was just the beginning...

After further research, it turned out that in this place there is a whole system of temples, cells and monuments carved in stone.

The complex consists of 29 caves…

Experts believe that all this was built by Buddhist monks over 7 centuries, starting from the 2nd century BC. e.

Each cave is unique, with a unique interior and entrance design.

The caves were abandoned in the 7th century, but remained a shrine for local residents.

The unique carving depicts the various stages of the Buddha's life.

Your eyes will see various drawings that have been well preserved.

Everything is perfectly visible, down to the smallest details.

According to one theory, these caves were built by connecting them with natural phenomena...

For example, on the days of the summer and winter solstice, the sun, passing over the caves, illuminates religious objects through special openings.

The effort of the people it took to build it is staggering.

Especially if you take into account the limited range of tools that could be used in those days.

Most likely people will never know how it was all built!

In 1983, the Ajanta complex became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Of course, the journey to Ajanta will take a lot of time and effort, but it is worth it. You just need to perceive all obstacles as minor inconveniences on the path to beauty!
