Lotus Flowers Planted in Potholes in India (7 photos)
They decided to fight damaged roads with supposedly beauty. But the quality of roads in India is just a disaster, because cities are growing, villages are growing, the roads to them require constant repairs, which they cannot provide.
This is not photoshopped, they really look like this on the roads
A big commotion in Chandigarh
This city has a particularly tragic state of roads, and for many years they could not attract attention to this issue. And everything resulted in such a peaceful, but bright protest. They drew the lotus symbol inside the potholes and patches, and where there was nothing to draw on, they put cut-out pictures. Many specially brought with them pictures in the colors of the orange-green lotus, which is the symbol of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. So that it supposedly has a conscience - here are your undone deeds!
At the same time, they outline with white chalk so that it is more visible
The lotuses and their drawings were specially placed so that drivers and cyclists could see the potholes, and therefore - less likely to get injured. And so that they would be associated with the ruling party in the poor condition of the roads.
How quickly will they be run over if they are not on the sidewalk?
This is not even a criticism, but a sad statement of HOW MANY lotuses would have grown on their road if only one grew in each pothole. This elegant move immediately attracted the attention of all of India, and people began to choose what they would plant in their potholes.
Are crocodiles better?
Such initiatives with drawings were popular in India before, but they were not widespread. Usually, these were artists who painted potholes and old puddles in their own way.
A hole became the mouth of a deity
The most famous of these creators is Baadal Nanjundaswamy, who repaints holes into real works of street art. Crocodiles swim in them, and there are pits with snakes. He even drew realistic money in a puddle so that people would bend over.
Ha, ha, the grilled chicken killed me
But each of his pits is a unique work that goes viral on the Internet due to talent. These are one-time actions, but lotuses in pits are another type of protest, which, due to its simplicity, can be much more widespread.
And there's another case - a fallen piece of a block
Which of the methods seems more effective?
