Second life of the Strela car (15 photos)
Surely you all remember the funny pedal-powered cars from our childhood, which not only boys, but also girls dreamed of. We dedicated this post to just such a machine called “Strela”, which owes its revival to one craftsman with golden hands.
This toy car came to me completely by accident.
My father and I came to his friend the beekeeper to look at the trailer and saw it in the yard.
In the mortar tray there was an incomprehensible rocket with wheels lying on its side.
What was she doing there? The former owner was going to sell it in metal.
The paint was removed using a remover. The machine is all made of aluminum, so no brushes,
mechanical effects on metal, because it is soft.
A windshield was also made from plexiglass, with an aluminum insert at the front, based on old photos from the internet.
There was no steering wheel. A steering wheel was made in the shape of an airplane steering wheel and it turned out very well.
To remove rust from steering rods, pedal drives, wheels and other metal parts, I used the electrolysis method.
Polishing aluminum molding to a chrome shine is the hardest job.
Painted in 2 colors, the bottom is light blue, with a stripe in the middle. The top is white, giving the car a sporty look.
