In this issue you will find several little-known facts using the example of the film “The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed”, which will demonstrate the difference between two presentations of one work on film and on paper.

1. Of course, almost all the characters have differences from the real actors who played these roles...

2. But here you will find the most striking differences between book heroes and their screen incarnations.

3. By the way, in the film Sergeant Sinichkina has the greatest external resemblance to the book Varvara. The only difference is that in the book her eyes are of different colors - one is gray and the other with a greenish tint.

4. In the book. Gleb Zheglov: twenty-five years old, Komsomol member. Tall, agile, agile, quick, bulging brown eyes. Dark skin, blue-black hair. Very broad at the shoulders. To the cinema…

5. In the book. Vladimir Sharapov is blond with very thick hair, one of his front teeth is chipped or missing. He has a snub nose and small (in his opinion) eyes. In the cinema, the prototype for Sharapov’s appearance was Vladimir Arapov, Moore’s employee, who later became his boss...

6. In the book. Carp, hunchback - a middle-aged man with a flat face. Very thin, tightly compressed lips. Red eyelids. White diseased gums, rotten teeth. Long, gnarled hands, dry fingers.

7. In the book. Mikhail Mikhailovich Bomze - small arms and legs with a massive body, a small bald head. To the cinema…

8. To the book Decoy Anya - about twenty-two, long white face, short snub nose, two steel fixatives in her mouth. Dyed blonde hair. To the cinema…

9. In the book. Loshak is the driver of a bread van with license plate MG 38-03. A cartilaginous long face, for which he got his nickname. To the cinema…

10. In the book. Sergei Levchenko is broad-shouldered, with a brutal gypsy face. To the cinema…

11. I’ll also give another example of the difference between one, no less colorful “animate” character. In the book. A patched-up Opel Blitz bus, called Ferdinand by MUR-sheep. To the cinema. ZiS-8…

12. And, briefly about the more famous plot differences. The most important thing is the ending. In "Era of Mercy" Varvara Sinichkina dies at the hands of a bandit. In “The meeting place cannot be changed,” Sinichkina remains alive, having managed to demobilize and pick up the “foundling” from the maternity hospital.

13. The “bed scene” between Varvara Sinichkina and Vladimir Sharapov is present in the Weiner novel. For obvious reasons, it was not filmed.

14. The backstory of Sharapova’s acquaintance with Levchenko and another “flashback” scene during their nightly dialogue in the “thief’s raspberry” were also not included in the series.

15. Initially, 7 episodes of screen time were filmed, but the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company refused to buy these two episodes from the Odessa Film Studio. Stanislav Govorukhin had to re-edit the film, squeezing in some of the “extra” footage.

16. According to many critics, this made the film more dynamic.

"В книге. Глеб Жеглов: двадцать пять лет..." - на самом деле, двадцать шесть, если быть точным!
