Answer: "In the old days, they put these in the center of the table - the "main" salt shaker. And next to each plate there were smaller salt shakers."
"What is this hanging spoon-shaped thing I found at a thrift store?"
Answer: "These are standard tablespoon and teaspoon measurements - most likely a portable medicine measuring kit."
"This metal thing is attached to the wall in the bathroom of the apartment I rented through Airbnb in France. What is it for?"
Answer: "It's a magazine rack, just screwed upside down."
"This bronze artifact was found on the coast of northeastern Brazil. It's been in our family for many years."
Answer: "It's a table leg, and it's upside down."
"This thing is made of plastic, sharpened on one side. I got it as a New Year's gift. What is it for?"
Answer: "This is a holder for reading books. It is put on the thumb, the sharp end is pressed against the spine, and this way it is convenient to hold the book with one hand."
