Volkswagen has officially unveiled its new electric crossover, dubbed the ID. Tiguan. Set to replace both the ID.4 and ID.5 early next year, the SUV will offer three powertrain options and a driving range of up to 600 kilometers on a single charge. European orders for the VW ID. Tiguan open next week, with prices starting at €42,695.

At launch, the new crossover will come in three configurations. The two entry-level rear-wheel-drive variants feature electric motors outputting 190 hp or 286 hp, paired with a 58 kWh or 77 kWh battery pack. The range-topping trim retains the 77 kWh battery but adds dual-motor all-wheel drive generating 299 hp. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes between 8.5 and 6.3 seconds, while fast-charging the battery takes up to 29 minutes. Other specifications include a towing capacity of up to 2 tonnes and generous storage options—32 liters in the front trunk and 534 liters in the rear.

Measuring 4,618 mm long with a 2,765 mm wheelbase, the crossover has a noticeably more substantial presence than the EVs it replaces, though it keeps VW's signature rear pillar design. The electric Tiguan stands out with a muscular front fascia featuring multi-tiered lighting elements paired with a dynamic silhouette—suggesting the European model may have borrowed design cues from Volkswagen’s Chinese lineup. Notably, the ID. Tiguan retains traditional door handles.

The interior also incorporates several vintage touches. Unlike recent Volkswagen models, the new Tiguan’s cabin relies heavily on physical buttons. These are found not only on the door panels and sturdy steering wheel spokes, but also on the center console, which houses a compact climate control panel alongside an infotainment control knob.

At the same time, the EV is heavily digitized—it is the first European VW to offer a dedicated front-passenger display. The 12-inch screen includes a privacy filter to prevent driver distraction. The 10-inch digital instrument cluster and 15-inch central touchscreen are newly developed units. Both screens feature a "Retro" display mode that mimics the classic analog gauge cluster from the Golf IV.

Optional features for the ID. Tiguan include an expanded suite of driver assistance systems, massaging and ventilated seats, and a Harman Kardon premium sound system. Four core trim levels will be available: Trend, Life, Style, and R-Line.
