This School Replaced Punishments with Meditation, and the Results Are Impressive! (7 photos)
Robert Coleman School in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, is unlike many other schools. "How so?" you ask. It's simple: they decided to abandon the practice of keeping children after school as punishment for misbehavior. Instead, the administration came up with something more interesting.
Instead of keeping students in stuffy, windowless rooms after school, teachers send them to the so-called "mindful moment room," a brightly colored room aptly nicknamed "an oasis of calm."
This is part of the Holistic Me program, which teaches children meditation and breathing exercises, thus preparing them for discussions with child psychologists.
The program is run in partnership with the local nonprofit Holistic Life Foundation. The results are impressive.
Since the program's launch two years ago, not a single student has been suspended.
