What We Eat: A British Woman Kept Sweets for 20 Years, and They Didn't Care (7 photos)
What would make you give up your favorite food? We've all tried it many times, but by mid-afternoon, the urge to grab a delicious, unhealthy sponge cake with your tea becomes so overwhelming that it's practically impossible to resist. So, what's your favorite "poison"? The muffin you buy with your latte? Biscuits, croissants, pastries, or chocolates?
"This is my 'unhealthy box.' Every chocolate bar and every piece of jelly looks like I bought them yesterday, but they're the same age as my 19-year-old daughter." "Well, now think for a second about how you feel about your favorite treats," says Marisa Peer.
"In my 30 years of working as a psychotherapist and hypnotist, I've never had a better opportunity to clearly demonstrate how harmful this is for us. These foods—from croissants that look like they came straight from the bakery (even though they can easily knock a couple of teeth out of you) to the terrifyingly constant jar of margarine—are the scourge of modern society," says Marisa.
Neither insects nor bacteria touch them. But, for example, if you leave a tangerine in a bowl for a month, it will become moldy, and the smell of decay will linger, accompanied by a corresponding aroma.
What you see with your eyes will be a clear signal that eating this is not a good idea.
Still, there is a reason why neither bacteria nor insects touch certain foods. It's because these foods offer no nutritional value, and by eating them, we are harming our health. This simple information could save lives.
"For years, I worked with overweight people, inviting them to pick up the foods they found most delicious. Their appetites disappeared as soon as they touched a particular food. I started filling the box back in 1997, and it traveled with me everywhere, helping me teach people how to eat these foods with great care," Marisa said.
"The heart of my 'bad box' philosophy is to change our eating habits by changing our perception of food."
"Many people believe they need to go on strict diets to get in shape. However, that's not the secret: you just need to change the foods you eat. Eat as much fresh produce as you want, and I guarantee you'll soon love your figure more and more," advises Marisa.
