Family Business at the Track: Gabe Newell Sends His Son to Conquer Le Mans in His Own Car (3 photos)

While fans wait decades for the announcement of Half-Life 3, Valve CEO Gabe Newell has found a more dynamic way to invest his billions: he's sponsoring the racing career of his eldest son, Gray. The younger Newell has officially joined the roster for the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, where he will compete for the Heart of Racing team, a team whose founder and sponsor is his famous father. Remarkably, Gray initially tried to follow in his father's footsteps by founding his own gaming studio, but quickly realized that burning through millions on real racetracks was much more fun than writing code. Now, instead of virtual simulators, the young man masters real Aston Martin sports cars, turning professional motorsports into an elite family hobby with an unlimited budget. It seems this family can only count to two, but they certainly know how to spend the money earned from gamers on Steam beautifully and at top speed.
