The scale model was sold at a full-scale car auction. The online auction site Bring a Trailer closed bidding on an unusual Ferrari. It's a rare Daytona SP3 model, not produced in Maranello, but by Amalgam, and is a 1:8 scale model. The final price for this detailed, shelf-worthy replica of the supercar was $19,500.
The Amalgam Ferrari Daytona SP3 is even rarer than the original: while Ferrari built 600 examples of the real supercar, only 199 of the scale model were produced. It was developed using drawings and digital models from Maranello, and each car was assembled by hand. The length of this Daytona SP3 is approximately 58 centimeters.
Amalgam scale models are typically highly detailed. This example features a meticulously reproduced interior with blue trim, removable roof panels, and a replica of the stock engine—an 840-horsepower naturally aspirated V12—hidden under the engine compartment lid.
