The legendary Chrysler Building in New York is being sold again (8 photos)
One of New York City's most recognizable skyscrapers, the Chrysler Building, is back on the market, but interest from potential buyers remains low. Despite its status as an architectural icon, the nearly century-old building faces serious maintenance issues: tenants complain of rusty water, unstable elevators, leaks, and a worn-out interior.
An additional problem is the high cost of renting the land beneath the skyscraper—according to American media, owners pay approximately $32 million annually in rent, and this figure continues to rise. Meanwhile, the office and retail space in the tower is gradually becoming empty, and maintaining the building is becoming increasingly unprofitable.
The Chrysler Building is currently valued at approximately $150–250 million, significantly below previous market expectations. Experts do not rule out the possibility that the iconic skyscraper could change its purpose in the future and, like the Flatiron Building, be converted into a residential complex or mixed-use space.
