The "beggar card" became popular in South Korea
The so-called "Beggar Map" is gaining popularity in South Korea. The online service helps Koreans and tourists from other countries find affordable cafes and restaurants.
Eating out has skyrocketed, with popular Seoul establishments costing up to 20,000 won per meal. However, a few affordable cafes can still be found across the country. To find such places to eat, the online service "Beggar Map" was launched, where people share their favorites of affordable establishments.
Users fill the map with restaurants selling food for between 1,500 and 3,000 won. The project already lists about a thousand such restaurants.
Operating costs, such as raw materials, have increased by almost 50% over the past five years, and restaurants have raised most prices to survive, according to MBN.
