A Danish Forest Tower Shaped like an Hourglass Floating Above the Trees (13 photos + 1 video)
Just an hour's drive from Copenhagen, hidden in the heart of an ancient forest, lies a marvel of engineering. 
The rounded tower, reminiscent of a giant hourglass, rises straight from the ground, without touching a single branch. It's called Skovtornet, which means "Forest Tower" in Danish. 
To reach this architectural marvel, you need to follow a steep path that winds through the centuries-old trees of the Gisselfeld Nature Reserve, crosses streams, and skirts boulders. After about 3 kilometers, you'll find yourself at the base of this steel giant. 
Skovtornet opened its doors to visitors in 2019. The architects ensured that the tower complements, rather than clashes with, its natural surroundings. The tower's frame is made of steel with a noble patina, and all wooden elements are carved from local oak. 
The structure makes exactly 12 turns. Instead of stairs, there's a gentle ramp that spirals up so smoothly that you barely notice the climb. The width of the passage and the angle of the slope vary slightly, making your heart skip a beat in anticipation. 
At the top, at a height of 45 meters, an observation deck with 360-degree panoramic views awaits guests. On a clear day, the horizon stretches all the way to Copenhagen and even to Malmö, Sweden, across the strait. This area, part of the Camp Adventure park, was created to allow people to literally experience the very essence of the forest without disturbing its inhabitants.
