In Australia, even mollusks don't look harmless

This is a conch shell, a member of the marine gastropod family. Nature has endowed it with an unusual tool: a strong, sharp hook on the back of its "foot."

Using this hook as support and pushing off the seabed, conch shells are able to "walk" and even jump.
