A Chinese boy saved money for six months to please his mother
An 11-year-old schoolboy from China, Zhang, saved small amounts of money over a long period of time, only to show his mother how much he cared about her with an unexpected gesture. The boy's heartfelt gesture touched thousands of people and quickly went viral.
A primary school student in China saved his pocket money for six months to buy his mother a pair of shoes for her birthday. Holding a stack of one-yuan bills, he explained that he wanted to buy shoes for his mother.
He explained that they were a birthday gift for his mother so she could wear them every day on her way to work, as he noticed that she still wore old and worn-out shoes. He had about 200 yuan in total, but he had been saving this amount from his pocket money since May 2025.
The store clerk gave the boy a pair of white sneakers and offered a special discount, so Zhang ended up paying just over 100 yuan. Local media subsequently tracked down the boy, who explained that he had been saving the money from his grandmother's weekly breakfast allowance.
Afterward, the boy's mother posted a video of herself wearing the gifted shoes. She admitted she was pleasantly surprised by the gift and thanked both her son and the seller for their kindness and humanity.
