A man was walking along the beach when he spotted a "cute little octopus," picked it up, and started filming. He didn't even realize it was a blue-ringed octopus—one of the most dangerous marine creatures. Its venom paralyzes muscles and stops breathing. It's approximately a thousand times more toxic than cyanide, there's no antidote, and death can occur within minutes of a bite.
The Briton learned how close he came to death later, when commentators explained that he was holding almost certain death in his hands.
