The New Nissan N6 Hybrid Sedan Is Unexpectedly Affordable in China (39 photos)
Nissan, in partnership with Dongfeng, is introducing the N6 sedan to the Chinese market. It is the first hybrid in the N lineup, which previously only included fully electric models. This mid-size four-door sedan, by Chinese standards, is priced between 99,900 and 129,900 yuan, and local media note that the N6 offers a good balance of price, size, and available options.
The Nissan N6 measures 4831 x 1885 x 1494 mm with a 2815 mm wheelbase, making it 85 mm shorter than the current Toyota Camry, and has a wheelbase that's only 10 mm shorter. The exterior is designed to reflect Nissan's interpretation of current design trends in the Chinese market. For example, the body's contours are deliberately smooth, and it features the now-popular light bar along the hood and a "monolight" with an illuminated logo. However, the signature V-shaped front end is also retained. It is formed by the headlights.
The Nissan N6 will be powered by a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine and an electric motor. The former produces 102 hp and 135 Nm, while the latter adds 211 hp and 320 Nm, allowing for acceleration to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Thanks to a 21.1-kWh battery, the sedan should have an electric range of up to 180 km, and fuel consumption with a discharged battery is claimed to be 2.8 l/100 km. The new model's suspension is simple: MacPherson struts in the front and a torsion beam in the rear.
Depending on the trim level, the N6 will be equipped with front seats with 12-point massage and 14-way power adjustment with memory, a media system with a 15.6-inch display, six speakers, and a Snapdragon 8775 processor, as well as climate control with an air freshener and a karaoke function without a microphone. Regarding the driver assistance system, lidar is not available in any trim level—only various camera and radar systems are available.
The Nissan N6 has already been announced as a global model, although the joint venture has so far only announced a limited list of markets where the sedan is planned to be sold. These include countries in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and parts of Latin America.
