Here's a fresh contender for the Darwin Award, who hasn't yet won the full award, but is clearly in the running for the title of "stupidest student of the year."





It's a cozy evening in the Greek town of Koropi, near Athens, where a 22-year-old student from Thessaloniki decides that a regular burger is too boring. Instead of chewing it like a human being, like an evolved primate, he simply stuffs the entire bun and patty into his mouth, saying, "Look what I can do."

It wasn't an argument, not a TikTok challenge, but simply a "joke," according to his friend Mikhakis, who witnessed this most original suicide attempt.



Everything went wrong instantly. The guy swallows the bun with the cutlet, chokes, panics, and tries to burp, but to no avail. By the time the ambulance arrived, he had passed out. Although he was quickly taken to Gennimatas Hospital in Athens, doctors are not offering any comforting promises, saying that

the organ damage is irreversible; only a miracle can save him. The would-be experimenter is now in a coma on a ventilator.



Michakis told reporters from the Daily Mail and Greek newspaper Kathimerini: "He often joked like that, but this time... how did he even swallow it without a single bite?"

Medical experts are adding fuel to the fire: Dr. Mattini Pagnoni of the Athens Hospital Association explains that such a blockage of the airway is a one-way ticket if not intervened immediately. She also emphasized the importance of first aid skills for everyone, as none of the 22-year-old's friends were able to help him.
