A steel capsule resembling a spaceship brings humanity one step closer to life on the ocean floor. Designed to operate at depths of 50 meters, the station includes a habitation module, a dive center, and a main base. The underwater habitat, Vanguard, will allow four "aquanauts" to live and conduct unique research in the dark depths.

The main space of the capsule, 12 meters long and 3.7 meters wide, is designed for eating, sleeping, and working for the scientists.

It is equipped with sleeping accommodations, a galley for cooking, and a toilet. Visitors can also change into their gear and exit into the ocean through the "moon pool" in the dive center.

A surface support buoy provides air, water, power, communications, and waste disposal.

"Located beneath the ocean's depths is a vast, largely unexplored environment that has always fascinated people," noted DEEP, the manufacturer.

"DEEP strives to change the world by ushering in a new era of underwater life. Our mission begins with Vanguard and marks a significant step forward in living and working underwater."

The capsule was unveiled this week in Miami, Florida.

Vanguard allows crews to remain underwater for extended periods, opening up new possibilities for research. Scientists will be able to observe marine flora and fauna in real time.

This could change the way we approach coral reef restoration, climate monitoring, and astronaut training for space missions.

DEEP intends to create a global network that could ensure a permanent human presence in the ocean.

The module is currently submerged at a depth of 20 meters, but its design allows it to be deployed at depths of up to 50 meters.

The project was designed with all safety requirements in mind and is capable of withstanding the impact of a Category 5 hurricane.

Once all systems are tested and approved, Vanguard will be fully deployed for the first time.

The company is also working on another project – a "hotel" base called Sentinel, which will be located at a depth of 200 meters off the coast of Wales.
