Photographs of Odessa from 1969-1973 by Volker Tommack (48 photos)
I stumbled upon the page of the author, a fellow sincere lover of our native and beloved city, Odessa. I delved into old color photographs, taken around 1971 (you'll understand why as you browse), by the photographer Volker Tommack, a former photographer.

Here is a small selection of these photographs. As always, here are classics, but rare, in color, everyday sketches of student life in the late 1960s and early 1970s, demonstrations and sports, menu forms from a restaurant at the Odessa train station, and much more! Forward!

I doubt this is 1971, and I'll tell you why. The willow tree growing near the semicircular walkway above the escalator is incredibly large; it couldn't have grown that big in just four years! Let's compare with the photo from 1968...

Bare coastal slopes are a sign of the 1960s...

And after this photo, my doubts about a certain scene from the film "Beware of the Car" were completely dispelled.
42.
Yes, yes, Detochkin, it turns out he was at our train station!
43. Beware of the Car 2
But there's no way a telephone booth could have been standing on a platform like that.
44. Deribasovskaya, corner of Karl Marx (Ekaterininskaya).

There's also a winter photo, very cozy. So much snow, and on New Year's—what a holiday it was in Odessa!
46. I overexposed it a bit, but it still turned out warm.
