The world's fastest electric train, the CR450, unveiled last year, is undergoing various operational tests. The train recently reached a new milestone, reaching a speed of 453 kilometers per hour.
The CR450 high-speed train is undergoing a series of pre-operational tests on the line between Shanghai and Chengdu.
According to engineers, the CR450 differs from the previous CR400 model with its more sophisticated aerodynamics. It now accelerates from 0 to 350 km/h in 4 minutes 40 seconds. Under normal conditions, the engineers estimate the train will travel at 400 km/h.
Other technical characteristics have also been improved: shorter braking distance, stability, and an advanced control system. This will ensure greater safety than similar vehicles.
The CR450 is expected to begin passenger service after a 600,000 km test run.
