How a honey extractor works: extracting honey using centrifugal force
This video clearly demonstrates the operating principle of a centrifugal honey extractor. It involves extracting honey from uncapped combs using centrifugal force.
First, the combs containing honey are opened by cutting off the wax caps. Then, the uncapped frames are placed in the honey extractor's drum. The drum rotates, and centrifugal force pushes the honey out of the open cells, causing it to flow down the walls to the bottom and drain through a faucet.
Centrifugal force, many times greater than gravity, effectively "pulls" the honey out of the combs, leaving them intact.
Two questions remain open: why are the people in the video extracting frames containing brood, and why are they extracting immature honey.
