Volkswagen has registered the rights to a rather intriguing idea. A corporate patent, registered in early October in Germany, describes a conceptual assistant consisting of a camera mounted on the dashboard, synchronized with a switch on the steering wheel.
Thanks to this connection, to activate popular functions such as headlights or windshield wipers, the driver will simply glance in their direction while pressing a button on the steering wheel. The same button, according to the concept, will also activate voice commands.
Critics of this promising innovation were quick to point out that Volkswagen, having barely recovered from the failure of touchscreen control, is risking embarking on a new technological adventure.
It's worth noting that, for now, eye-gaze control is nothing more than a creative idea that may remain on paper.
