New Grounded C1 Utility Vehicle

Grounded has introduced the new C1 model, which is offered in both electric and hybrid powertrains. The vehicle can be used as a mobile command center, mobile medical facility, or disaster relief vehicle.

Configurations and Applications

Designed for government and medical fleets, the C1 is based on Harbinger’s commercial electric truck platform and is available in three different configurations. For police departments, the proposed mobile command center provides secure communications, reliable power, and mobility to coordinate operations during extreme weather conditions, large-scale events, or interagency emergencies.

The company didn’t provide much information, but images show the vehicle has a large open space with tables and various displays. It also features a restroom, flexible seating, and two isolated rooms.

Medical and emergency functionality

The C1 can also be converted into a mobile clinic, allowing municipalities and nongovernmental organizations to provide mammograms, vaccinations, screenings, and other preventive services. In this configuration, the reception area and restroom are visible. There is also an examination area with a table and medical equipment.

The third configuration is geared towards disaster response. The company said it provides resilience and adaptability with increased range, autonomous power, and modular interiors that can support shelter coordination, supply distribution, and emergency relief efforts.

Customization and technical features

While specific details are few, the C1 will be highly customizable, as the company mentioned several wheelbase options and three trim levels. The most basic level is called Core and features a simplified and economical interior. The Advanced and Pro trim levels add more features, including advanced communications equipment and increased range.

As for powertrains, the C1 will be offered with electric and hybrid options. The electric version can be supplemented with a gasoline generator for increased range, as well as a solar panel on the roof and a separate battery for residential needs.

Technical details and availability

The company didn’t elaborate on the powertrain, but Harbinger uses an electric motor with 440 hp and 1,140 lb-ft of torque. They also offer a scalable battery pack that comes in 35 kWh sections that can be increased depending on needs.

As for the hybrid variant, it will likely replicate the hybrid motorhome created by THOR Industries and Harbinger. It has a total range of 500 miles and an electric range of 150 miles.

There are still more questions than answers, but Grounded is already taking orders. Deliveries are expected from the second quarter of 2026, and the price will depend on the configuration and level of equipment.

The emergence of such versatile vehicles as the C1 could significantly change the approach to providing emergency and medical services, especially in conditions where traditional infrastructure is limited. The ability to quickly adapt the vehicle to specific needs makes it a valuable tool for various industries, from healthcare to crisis management. The technologies underlying the C1 also reflect the general trend towards cleaner and more efficient solutions in commercial transport.
