A very unusual Maybach with Ukrainian license plates was spotted in Slovakia (3 photos)
A real ghost of the luxury era was spotted in Slovakia — a Maybach 57 sedan from 2003, with Ukrainian license plates. The car was spotted in Košice, and the footage immediately appeared on the benz_of_ukraine Instagram page.
On the body are “CD” stickers, which are usually used to mark diplomatic cars. But instead of the diplomatic corps, there are ordinary Transcarpathian license plates. A check in OpenDataBot shows that they were obtained during re-registration back in 2020. And this is where the interesting part begins — because the “0001” license plates clearly hint that the owner of the car is far from a random person. 
The Maybach 57 is the base version of the ultra-luxury sedan that was supposed to compete with Rolls-Royce and Bentley in the early 2000s. Only 1,104 of these pre-styling cars were produced in the world, so finding one is almost like finding a framed black-and-white photo of a young Steve Jobs at a flea market. And although the model was built on the basis of the Mercedes S-Class, its 5.7-meter length and interior with wood, leather, and a panoramic roof immediately made it clear that this was not just a “big Mercedes.”
Under the hood is a 5.5-liter V12 twin-turbo with 550 hp and 900 Nm. It weighs under three tons, but still accelerates to hundreds in 5.2 seconds. The maximum speed is 250 km/h, and the air suspension makes the movement similar to sailing a yacht, and not driving on asphalt. 
And here is the most interesting thing: who is this connoisseur who not only kept such a rarity, but also can travel abroad in it? Because the numbers "0001" hint that the owner can quite afford a new electric Rolls-Royce Spectre, but... for some reason, it was this old-school "ship" that set off on a journey to Slovakia. Maybe it's the charisma of the old Maybach, which is still able to make a greater impression than any new battery-powered luxury car?
