The battery-powered Cayenne will be the first to receive powerful inductive charging.





Porsche announced that it will soon begin mass-marketing a new solution for home charging of electric vehicles – a wireless system that requires integrating an inductive pad into the floor of a car's parking space. The power of this station is claimed to be comparable to that of conventional AC wall chargers.

The company estimates that 75% of Porsche electric vehicle owners prefer to charge their vehicles at home rather than at public stations. Consequently, the company sees enormous market potential in the inductive charging system. Its platform measures 117 x 78 x 6 centimeters and can be installed anywhere an electric car is stored—in a garage or an outdoor parking lot. It weighs approximately 50 kilograms.

Porsche's development will provide a charging current of 11 kW. The time required to recharge the traction battery has not yet been disclosed, as the specifications of the electric Cayenne have not yet been released. However, it is already known that it will be optionally equipped with a charging unit located under the front wheels, protected from stones, moisture, and other road hazards.

The Cayenne will be able to automatically lower itself to the required charging height when parked over an induction plate. The process will be controlled via a proprietary app.

The Porsche Cayenne Electric will premiere at the end of 2025, and the company will begin selling wireless charging stations in 2026. A hint about the flagship electric car will be revealed early next week: a battery-powered Cayenne prototype will be shown at the Munich Motor Show.
