14-year-old teenager froze to death while climbing a volcano (5 photos + 1 video)
In Mexico, a teenager decided to climb the Iztaccihuatl volcano without a guide and the necessary equipment. 14-year-old Paolo Sanchez Carrasco was found dead at an altitude of 4,780 meters in the Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park. Shortly before the tragedy, he published his last video. 
During the hike, Paolo told his friends on social media: “It turns out that the temperature here at night drops to minus two degrees. And the worst thing is, I’ll freeze my ass off. I didn't even bring a sleeping bag and the shelter is very far away, the nearest one is on the other side of the mountain."
A woman named Angela reported that she was climbing the volcano at the same time.
She wrote: "As soon as we reached the second pass, a storm started. We had to set up camp. We were soaking wet and had no choice but to take shelter in a tent." 
Paolo left Mexico City for Iztaccihuatl on July 12. The drive takes about an hour and a half, and it remains a mystery how he got there.
Iztaccihuatl is the third highest peak in Mexico (5,213 meters), and is considered a technically difficult climb. The weather can change dramatically even in the most favorable months. Low temperatures, strong winds and sudden reductions in visibility due to clouds or fog are not uncommon.
Experts recommend climbing the volcano only with proper equipment, including layers of thermal clothing, special boots, gloves, hats, navigational instruments and, in many places, crampons and an ice axe. They stress the importance of acclimatization and the need to work with experienced guides.
Last month, a Brazilian tourist fell into the crater of an active volcano in Indonesia. Juliana Marins, 26, was climbing Mount Rinjani, the second-largest volcano in Indonesia, when she fell off the trail. Witnesses heard her screams and immediately notified the services. The victim was unable to get out on her own, and she also had no food, water, or shelter.
Rescuers reached the tourist only three days later. By that time, she was already dead. An autopsy showed that Marins died from severe internal bleeding.
