12 little-noticed details in the Terminator movie that many missed (13 photos)
An ageless wonderful film
The T-800 also found John Connor
When the T-800 finds itself in the past, it begins to look for Sarah Connor and turns to the phone book for help, in which it finds three Sarah Connors. However, at this point, you can see that it also finds John Connor with its left finger. This can be explained by the fact that, although the T-800's mission was to eliminate Sarah Connor before John was born, Skynet did not have exact data about her son's birth, so there was a possibility that in the time the T-800 found itself in, Sarah had already given birth to John, so just in case, it began to look for him too.
Kyle Reese let a dog sniff his hand
Kyle Reese's flashbacks show a small portion of his time spent in the Resistance. So, in one small fragment, you can see that the Resistance has specially trained dogs that sniff the hands of fighters returning from a mission to let them know if there is a disguised Terminator among them. Finding himself in the past, Kyle meets a dog at a motel and, out of habit, lets it sniff his hand. Interestingly, it was this dog that later let Kyle know with its barking that a T-800 was nearby.
Human teeth of the T-800
The only human thing attached to the skeleton of a real Terminator is the teeth. This is probably because the teeth are the only visible part of the entire endoskeleton. Of course, the eyes could also be included, but it is worth noting that with human eyes, the Terminator skeleton would look extremely creepy. This was later partially explained in the film "Terminator Salvation", which said that Terminators deliberately leave some people alive in order to then take from them what can be useful to people like the T-800.
T-800 ruptured Achilles tendon
After colliding with a truck, the T-800 begins to limp, which seems a little strange, because it seems that it has practically no weak points. However, this is not so. When the T-800 collided with the truck, a part of its skeleton in its leg was destroyed, which was a kind of Achilles tendon. The film focuses on this moment for literally a couple of seconds, so without freeze frames, this detail is almost impossible to notice.
T-800 copies other people's phrases
At the beginning of the film, the T-800 meets three punks and the one played by Bill Paxton says a phrase like "go to hell." As a result, the T-800 took not only the clothes, but also the phrase of the punk with blue hair. Some time later, when the T-800 finds himself in a motel, a janitor knocks on his door and the viewer sees the scene from a first-person perspective. It is then that it is evident that the T-800, before answering, selects the necessary phrase from a small list, which includes: "yes/no", "or what?", "get lost", "please come back later" and that very punk phrase that the T-800 remembered for the right occasion.
30 cops
At the police station, Sarah Connor learns from Lieutenant Ed Treskler that she is not at all safe, since there are only 30 police officers in the building. Director James Cameron seems to have added this number to the script on purpose, because when the T-800 comes for Sarah, it deals with exactly that many police officers: some of them are in the frame, and the rest can be counted by the sounds of gunfire off-screen.
Failed run through a burning car
Despite the fact that the T-800 was almost perfect for its time, it had a number of shortcomings, including its outer shell, which was definitely not fire-resistant. In one scene, the Terminator runs through fire and in the next shot, you can see that his eyebrows and eyelashes are missing, the hair on his head is singed, and his skin has acquired a rubbery appearance. There is also an interesting behind-the-scenes fact from this scene. As soon as the T-800 runs, part of his jacket smokes. This is not graphics, but a real practical effect, achieved in a very unsafe way. According to Arnold Schwarzenegger, James Cameron poured acid on his jacket to achieve the smoke effect and, as Schwarzenegger admitted, it was a very unpleasant experience.
Kevin Collins among the missing
During the police station massacre, in one shot you can see a missing boy poster on the bulletin board named Kevin Collins. The name and photo were not chosen by chance. A month before the filming of The Terminator began, on February 10, 1984, 10-year-old Kevin Collins was kidnapped on the streets of San Francisco in the evening while walking home from basketball practice. One of his older brothers was supposed to accompany him, but he fell ill and Kevin had to go alone. The boy was last seen at a bus stop talking to a tall man he didn't know, and nothing has been heard of Kevin since. This case became one of the most high-profile in 1984. Kevin's image was featured not only in The Terminator, but also in a number of other films and on the packaging of various common products, such as milk, cereal, and others.
Same Truck
At the beginning of the film, the Terminator drives a wheel right over a toy truck. Later, the T-800 steals a virtually identical real truck and chases Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese in it.
Sarah Connor wears a ring on the wrong finger
Before meeting Kyle Reese in Terminator, Sarah Connor wears a ring on the middle finger of her right hand. After Kyle is gone, she wears the same ring on her left ring finger, as if to suggest that Reese was her true love.
Sarah knew which button to press
In the finale, Sarah Connor literally crushes the Terminator by luring him under a hydraulic press. However, it seems strange that Sarah found the right button the first time without any problems, because there are a lot of such buttons in the plant.
This moment is explained a little earlier. In a fleeting scene, Sarah accidentally presses the button that activates the hydraulic press, and understands what it is for.
Sarah took the dog that was sitting outside the motel
Before the end credits, Sarah records her words for John on a tape recorder, and then a boy takes a picture of her. Years later, this picture will end up in John's hands, and he will give it to Kyle. At this moment, the same dog that Reese and Connor met outside the motel is sitting next to Sarah. Sarah quickly learned Kyle's lesson about dogs recognizing Terminators, and protected herself for the future. There is no doubt that this is the same dog, since it is actually James Cameron's pet.
