John Goodman Has Lost Weight Beyond Recognition (4 photos)
Hollywood legend John Goodman was spotted at the Los Angeles premiere of The Smurfs, where he voiced Papa Smurf. The 73-year-old actor, dressed in a sleek navy suit, happily posed for photographers, but his appearance has left fans puzzled.
The Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner has shed 200 pounds and looks better than ever.
In 2007, when his weight reached 178 kilograms, John decided to lose weight and gave up alcohol.
In a 2011 interview with David Letterman, he admitted: "Every spring, I would finish filming Roseanne. Each time, I would lose 60 pounds, but then gain them back and even more."
Goodman eliminated sugar from his diet and began to exercise regularly six times a week. However, he would occasionally break down and return to old habits, so the weight loss process dragged on.
In 2017, he shared: "I want to move towards my goal gradually. Play sports, walk. I've reached the age where I can't sit still."
A year later, the actor noted that the main thing is to control portions, because before he "just ate everything."
Judging by the latest footage, Goodman has managed to achieve his goal. He recently said that he hasn't spoken to Roseanne Barr, his on-screen wife in the popular American sitcom, for almost 10 years.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor explained: "I doubt she wants to talk to me. We haven't seen each other in about seven or eight years."
