A 230-pound man refused free weight loss surgery (3 photos)
In Mexico, a 230-kilogram man refused to participate in a show where he would have undergone weight-loss surgery for free, out of conviction.
Lewis Delgado, owner of a clothing brand for overweight people, said that two years ago he was invited to the Kils Mortales program. The heroes of this show are people who are helped to cope with obesity through surgical operations. During filming, they also solve their physical and psychological problems.
One of Delgado's subscribers invited him to participate in the show. As part of it, the owner of a clothing store would have undergone an operation costing 110 thousand Mexican pesos for free, but the man refused.
Delgado explained that because of Kils Mortales, he would have to stop working with his own brand, change his diet and stop being body positive on social media, and he didn't want to do any of those things. In addition, the man did not like that the filming would take place in his house, where he lives with his mother, sister and wife.
Instead of participating in the show, Delgado decided to lose some weight on his own, without surgery. “There are no more 50 kilograms in my life. I weighed 285 kilograms, and now I weigh 230. But some say it’s not noticeable at all,” he said.
