A unique moment was caught on video: a fragment meteorite hits roof of private home in USA (2 photos + 2 videos)
An unusual incident occurred in the city of McDonough, Georgia - a fragment of a meteorite pierced the roof of one of the houses. This was reported by the local Department of Emergency Management. According to the department, no one was injured, and there was no serious damage to residents.
The American Meteor Society classified the fallen meteor as a bolide - an especially bright and large meteor that, when falling, can create a sonic boom or even a flash of light visible for hundreds of kilometers.
Scientists and enthusiasts have already left for the scene to study the fragments found.
Such cases are quite rare, especially when meteorites reach the Earth's surface and fall into populated areas.
For now, the district remains on high alert in case of possible consequences of other fragments falling, although the likelihood of a repeat incident is considered extremely low.
