A fallen meteorite enriches an Indonesian undertaker (5 photos + 1 video)

Wealth fell from the sky to a resident of Kolang, Indonesia. Joshua Hutagalung was working in his yard when the meteorite crashed through the tin roof of his home and fell onto his porch. The age of the celestial debris was about 4.5 billion years, and its mass was 2.1 kg.





The meteorite is a carbonaceous chondrite and is very rare. Its cost was estimated at $1.7 million.



The man sold the meteorite to a collector and received the equivalent of an undertaker's salary for 30 years.

According to the father of many children, when he dug up the space rock, it was still warm.

“The sound was so loud that the house shook. I looked around and noticed a broken roof. I thought that a celestial object, which many call a meteorite, could have fallen. Because it is impossible that someone deliberately threw a stone, especially from above,” said the lucky one .





According to the good-natured Joshua, he will use part of the funds to build a church in his community.

He also believes that the meteor is a sign from above, and his old dream will come true.



“I have always dreamed of a daughter. I hope this is a sign that I will soon be happy,” Hutagalung admitted.



The millionaire overnight became a local celebrity; people began to flock to his house to see the rare stone.

Later, three more fragments of the meteorite were found, officially named Kolang.

The meteorite was sent to the United States, where it was purchased by a doctor and collector from Indianapolis.

American meteorite expert Jared Collins, who bought part of the stone, said: “My phone was blowing up with crazy offers to get on a plane and buy a meteorite. This was in the midst of Covid, and, frankly, I was choosing between buying a stone for myself and collaborating with scientists and collectors. I took with me as much money as I could muster and went in search of Joshua, who turned out to be a skillful negotiator."
