A “road of shame” was discovered in the USA (4 photos + 3 video)
The road near the city of Williston in the American state of North Dakota is nicknamed the "Road of Shame" by locals. In wet weather, it becomes completely impassable, reminiscent of the famous federal highway P504 "Kolyma" of the early 2000s. At the same time, it leads to residential buildings and businesses, so drivers are forced to drive on it.
It is officially called 135th Avenue Northwest. The road is laid on very soft and loose soil. It can be driven on relatively without problems only in absolutely dry weather. After any rain, it turns into, as the locals say, "quicksand." Judging by the published photos, if this is an exaggeration, then it is only a small one.
Getting stuck up to your bumpers or hubs is not the worst thing. The road has gullies almost as deep as a full-size pickup truck or SUV. In addition, there are deep drainage ditches along the narrow track. It is easy to slip into them, and then the car can easily flip over.
The problem would not be so acute if only off-road thrill-seekers used the road for fun. It leads to homes and businesses. Therefore, ordinary trucks are forced to drive along the "road of shame," and online navigators pave the way.
Residents note that the traffic here is quite heavy for such a broken road. As best they can, they "promote" the place on social networks and YouTube. However, there are no plans to build a proper highway.
