A 2157-horsepower V12 hypercar created in Italy (10 photos)
The previously unknown Italian company Giamaro Automobili presented two promising projects at once. The first, called Katla, is a rear-wheel drive hypercar with a turbocharged V12 producing up to 2,157 hp. The second is called Albor and should become an off-road supercar, but so far it only exists as a project.
Giamaro Katla is based on a carbon monocoque that weighs only 170 kilograms. As a result, despite the huge internal combustion engine, the total weight of the hypercar is 1,450 kilograms.
For the coupe, the company independently designed a new V12, which has a volume of 7.0 liters and four turbochargers at once, arranged in the collapse of the block. Depending on the settings, it can develop 1670 or 2157 horsepower, a parking power option is also provided - no more than 800 hp. The engine works with a seven-speed manual transmission, but the company mentioned that an 11-speed "robot" is currently being developed in addition. The dynamic characteristics of the Katla are not yet available.
With a length of 4701 millimeters, the coupe has a wheelbase of 2750 millimeters and is thus comparable in size, for example, with a Chevrolet Corvette.
Giamaro Albor should become a kind of hybrid of a supercar and a crossover. According to preliminary plans, this model, like the Katla, will have a mid-engine layout, but will have increased ground clearance and should be higher than many current SUVs.
According to Motor1, the startup's engineering department is headed by Loris Bicocchi, who previously worked at Lamborghini, Bugatti, Pagani and Koenigsegg. The company plans to assemble up to 30 supercars per year, for which it will create its own plant in the Emilia-Romagna region next to Ferrari, Lamborghini and Pagani. The Italians expect to launch production of Katla next year, while Albor will go into production a little later.
