Irving the pet kangaroo is constantly escaping from his enclosure to hop around the streets of Durango.





Colorado police have already organized several chases around the city for Irving the pet kangaroo, People reports. The unusual pet escaped from his home twice to explore the streets and yards of Durango: in October 2024 and last Monday, May 19.

The city police department shared footage of the “arrest” of a repeat offender kangaroo on their social media. In the video, an officer corners Irvin in a neighbor’s yard during a chase. Irvin does not resist as the officer drags him toward a waiting police car. As Irvin approaches the car, he turns his head to take one last look at his surroundings before he is bundled into the backseat.



“Some officers respond to traffic stops. Ours? Searching for kangaroos!” the officers joke. They also call Irvin a "legend": "You've officially earned the title of Durango's most unlikely repeat offender."
