McLaren initially developed the Solus GT project for the Gran Turismo video game, but then turned it into reality, building 25 supercars. One of them, the sixth in a row, was recently sold at auction by Mecum.

The road-track McLaren Solus GT was designed in such a way as to provide the driver with sensations similar to the effect of driving a Formula 1 car. The design of the supercar includes a carbon monocoque and racing suspension, advanced aerodynamics and only one seat in the center.

McLaren equipped the unusual supercar with a naturally aspirated V10 engine. With a volume of 5.2 liters, it develops 840 hp and 650 Nm. The engine works with a seven-speed sequential gearbox and is capable of accelerating the supercar to 100 km/ h in 2.5 seconds.

The auctioneers do not provide any details about the example put up for sale, although it can be assumed that its mileage is close to zero. The final bid is not indicated either. The new McLaren Solus GT cost, according to some estimates, from 2 to 3.5 million dollars.
