An official in China saved a driver from a burning car with his bare hands (2 photos + 1 video)
In the Chinese city of Shaoguan, 35-year-old civil servant Zhong Wei saved a driver from a car engulfed in flames. The incident occurred after a car collided with a gasoline tricycle. Seeing the flames, the official, who works as a team leader in the city government's agricultural department, rushed to help.
The driver was trapped by a damaged door. The first attempt to open it failed. Gathering his strength, Wei was able to open the door on the second try and pull the victim out. As his smartwatch later showed, during the rescue operation, the Chinese man's heart rate jumped to 151 beats per minute. Zhong himself attributes his physical fitness to his job - regularly carrying heavy bags of fertilizer.
The rescued driver was hospitalized and is undergoing rehabilitation. Local authorities praised the official's courage, and social media users call him a "true national hero."
