Stuck waist-deep: first date ended in a rescue operation (3 photos)
A first date in Michigan (USA) almost ended in tragedy. A man was sucked into quicksand while walking on the beach, and he was only able to get out with the help of rescuers.
A first date in Michigan turned into a real rescue operation. A man was sucked into quicksand while walking by the lake. The incident happened to Michael O'Brien, who invited his colleague Breanna Sika to take a walk along the beach at Lake Michigan.
The couple were leisurely walking, collecting beautiful stones, when suddenly the ground literally disappeared from under the man's feet. The sand suddenly gave way, and O'Brien found himself trapped - buried up to his waist and completely immobilized. He tried to get out, but in vain.
"It felt like someone was holding my leg under the ground," he recalled.
It took 15 minutes before he gave up and tried to call 911. However, due to poor reception, dispatchers mistook his call for spam and hung up. Then Breanna took over, and her call turned out to be successful. Not only was the woman able to describe the situation, but she also publicly referred to O'Brien as "my boyfriend" for the first time.
Rescuers arrived a few minutes later. They pulled the man out with a life jacket and rope, widening the hole and ensuring his safe exit.
The man noted that the date was certainly unforgettable.
