Housewarming, 1970s. The tradition of letting a cat into a new apartment is an ancient custom that is still preserved in some cultures and families. It is believed that a cat, due to its sensitivity and ability to "feel" the energy of space, can cleanse the house of negativity, eliminate bad feelings or simply "sanctify" a new home with its presence. In different cultures, cats have always been considered magical creatures. For example, in Ancient Egypt they were revered as sacred animals, and in the European tradition they were often associated with protecting the house from evil spirits. Letting a cat into a new apartment was a symbol of protection and well-being. Today, this tradition is more often perceived as a funny ritual or a tribute to family customs. Many people, even those who are not superstitious, continue to follow this practice to add a little coziness and symbolic meaning to the process of moving. In addition, cats can actually help create an atmosphere of comfort: their soft purring and calm behavior help reduce the stress that often accompanies moving.

A curious creature, 1956. This photo gained particular popularity thanks to the collection of Brazilian journalist Paula Leite Moreira, who organized the project "All vintage cats" during the pandemic. The project contains retro photographs, the main characters of which are cats. Over the several years of the project's existence, the number of photos has approached 500.
