He was able to repeat it. American Man Drives Million Miles in Toyota Tundra Again (8 pics)
Louisiana driver Victor Sheppard repeated the achievement he set for the first time back in 2016. He again drove a million miles (1.6 million kilometers) in one car, and again in a Toyota Tundra. Sheppard's average annual mileage exceeds 200 thousand kilometers.
Victor Sheppard drove his second million miles in a 2014 Toyota Tundra with a 5.7-liter V8. He reached the 900 thousand mileage back in 2023, but in 2024 he used the pickup truck less intensively, as his business related to logistics and deliveries was experiencing difficulties.
He bought this truck to replace the first one, a 2007 model, when its mileage was approaching the landmark mark. In 2016, the North American branch of Toyota learned about its history and gave Sheppard another pickup truck, this time a new one. The veteran truck went to the concern's research center, where they promised to disassemble it to find out how such intensive use affected the vehicle's units. Sheppard kept the gift for personal use, and continued working on the one he had previously purchased.
Sheppard's first Tundra practically did not require any additional attention, except for regular visits to service stations - they counted 117 of them in total. Before the odometer was reset, the pickup truck reached the original body, engine and transmission. At the same time, on the second pickup, as Victor told the publication, the generator and gearbox had to be changed in the intervening time. The transmission started to fail at 780,000 miles (about 1,250,000 kilometers).
Both in the US and Europe, cars occasionally reach the million-mile mark. For example, in 2023, a “million-mile” Honda Accord was found in the United States, and in Germany, a Tesla Model S with 1.9 million kilometers was found.
