A woman with the longest tongue in the world named her favorite pastime (3 photos + 2 video)
34-year-old American Chanel Tupper, who has held the record for the longest female tongue in the world (9.75 cm) since 2010, admitted that she likes it when people are shocked and scream in horror when they see her tongue.
She spoke about this in a conversation with representatives of the Guinness Book of Records.
"Honestly, the best reaction I've ever gotten when someone sees my tongue is a scream. I actually like it when people scream or squeal in shock and sometimes horror. But that's probably my favorite: I find it funny because it's a dramatic reaction," she admitted.
Chanel has also shown off some of the weird things she can do with her super-long tongue on camera. For example, she's removed Jenga blocks, flipped red Solo Cups, touched her nose with her tongue, and even held a spoon by curling her tongue around it.
"I like little funny things, silly things. That's what makes my tongue the most fun, when I can do something out of the box with it," she joked.
Tupper is proud of her title and the opportunities it has afforded her:
"My favorite part about being a record holder is when I get to travel and meet other record holders. It's fun, and of course I get to see parts of the world I've never seen before."
Last year, Chanel was invited to star in an advertising campaign for fashion brand Diesel, along with other record holders. Her tongue was painted blue and green for a series of photos for the Italian brand's Welcome to Successful Living campaign. The Spring/Summer 2024 campaign was a tribute to the classic TV talent show: judges and live viewers watched in delight as Guinness World Records stars took to the stage to show off what makes them special.
The first time Chanel realized her tongue was unusual was when she was eight years old and took a photo with her mother for Halloween.
"In one of the photos, we stuck our tongues out. I noticed that I had a long tongue when they were printing photos from Halloween, and I saw it... But I think it became noticeable in middle school, when people started commenting on it. Why I stuck my tongue out to people, I don't know... I'm stupid! But there are still people from those times who remember me only because of my tongue!" - the girl admitted.
She added that she does not feel any discomfort and would never trade her long tongue for a "normal" one.
