A traveler found an unusual way to avoid paying for excess baggage (5 photos + 1 video)
A passenger at London Stansted Airport stuffed two jackets and a make-up bag under her coat after realising they wouldn't fit in her carry-on luggage. In a viral video titled 'We're having a boy and we're calling him Ryan', 20-year-old Grace Hale showed off her fake baby bump.
Grace, originally from Dallas, Texas, is studying in London and was heading to Edinburgh for the weekend. The business student even had a plausible cover story prepared in case she was stopped by airport staff.
The girl said: “It’s just unthinkable how much you have to pay for luggage on Ryanair flights. I try to get by with hand luggage, but I like to take ten outfits on a three-day trip. That day we were running late, the flight was very early. I was packing my things on the train to the airport, and then I realized that my jackets and makeup bag would not fit. So I decided to pretend to be pregnant. I practiced at the station: I wrapped the jackets around the makeup bag and put everything under the coat so that nothing would fall out.”
Hale claims that staff even asked her how many months she was pregnant.
"It was so funny. I googled what a belly looks like at different stages of pregnancy and I landed on 26 weeks, which was really lucky because you need a doctor's note at 28 weeks."
Grace was "pregnant" until she got off the plane in Edinburgh. She does not hide that she will use this trick again.
In the comments to the video, which has collected more than 35,000 views, viewers praised the girl: "This is brilliant"; "A clever move."
