A woman has not bought anything for 10 years because she completely gave up money (3 photos)

The woman last used money and bought something with it in 2015, after which she gave it up completely and told how she manages to live in the modern world.

Joe Nemeth has no salary, no mortgage, and no car. She hasn't bought anything new in ten years and rarely goes to the store. However, she says she has everything she needs and that she has too many clothes.

"I am completely money-free. Living without money is not about money. It is about consuming less and using less resources," Jo explained, adding that she has no savings and does not receive any social security benefits.

The 56-year-old's radical new life began ten years ago when she gave up money. She was deeply unhappy with the economic system and wanted to do everything she could to make the world more sustainable.

The woman last went shopping in 2015. Jo lives off old store-bought products that no one wants, and does not follow expiration dates, relying on common sense.

A herbalist by training, she treats any ailments with natural remedies and works to grow subtropical plants "that are more environmentally friendly than traditional European food."

"For toilet paper, I use washable napkins. And when people go to a cafe or restaurant, they pass me napkins that they haven't used," she says.

Jo also asks for almost empty toothpaste tubes so she can pick out the leftovers from the corners, or uses aloe that she grows in her garden.

The woman's clothes are donated by friends. Jo tries to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible, even making her own washing powder. Her phone and laptop are donations, and she uses them via Wi-Fi to avoid paying for the internet. When she started her new life, she would ask people for a huge bag of rice for her birthday or powdered milk. Now she asks for seeds that she can use to cook for her family and the wider community where she lives and volunteers.

Jo considers herself either a radical farmer or an extreme housewife. She has worked long hours for the past six years, tending to the five-bedroom farmhouse and garden where she lives.
