I think many of you watched action movies starring Arnold Schwarzenegger with bated breath as kids. And since these movies were considered hits, it's no surprise that a wide variety of games were released based on them.

Terminator (NES)

Well, I'd like to start with the good old Dendy (NES) console and the movie Terminator. Yes, action movies were so popular at the time that games were released on almost every console. And the 8-bit console was no exception.

The game is a simple platformer, where we will have to take on the role of soldier Kyle Reese, who goes into the past to save John Connor's mother, and at the same time conceive John Connor himself.

The game is quite simple, but also very diverse, because we will have to not only run and shoot, but also race cars, both from the side and from above. Well, we will meet the T-800 terminator himself closer to the end.

Predator (Arcade, 1987)

In 1987, the game "Predator" was released in arcades, based on the movie of the same name with Schwarzenegger. We had to take on the role of Dutch, who runs through the jungle, shoots from a machine gun and periodically gets into the sights of the Predator.

But in my opinion, the game turned out to be rather nondescript, boring and uninteresting even for that time.

Predator (NES, 1987)

At one time, the NES console also released its own version of the game "Predator". The game is a classic platformer, where our hero has to fight with various aliens, despite the fact that in the film there was only one alien. However, there are also villainous people as enemies here, so you definitely shouldn't relax.

But in addition to the standard platformer part, the game also has an unusual boss battle, which takes place in an enlarged mode. The hero himself resembles a huge version of the heroes from the game "Contra".

I admit honestly, I didn't like this game at all as a child, and after playing it for about 20 minutes, I just abandoned it and never turned it on again.

The running man (Arcade)

I think many of you have watched the dystopian film "The Running Man", where Schwarzenegger's character and several other characters had to participate in a deadly show for the amusement of the audience. And by the way, many did not even know that the film was based on the book by Stephen King. Well, this is not surprising, because he released it under the pseudonym Richard Bachman.

In the game, released based on this film, we will also have to take on the role of the running Arnie, who will have to constantly run somewhere, fighting gladiators and dogs along the way. Basically, that's all.

I think that few of you have seen this game. And this is not surprising, because it was released exclusively on slot machines.

Total Recall (NES, 1990)

Based on the famous film by Paul Verhoeven "Total Recall", a game of the same name was also released on different platforms, including Dendy (NES).

We take on the role of Douglas Quaid, who for some reason is dressed in khaki and wildly shakes his pumped-up chest while walking.

At the very beginning of the game, we are not given any weapons, but as the story progresses, we will get them.

Personally, I did not like this game. The graphics were disgusting (yes, I understand that it is 1990, but it could have been done better), there is little left from the film (and I do not understand where the living skeletons came from), and it was simply impossible to play with this music.

Terminator 2 (NES, 1991)

After the success of the film "Terminator 2: Judgment Day", the release of the game of the same name was only a matter of time. And in the same 1991, the game was released on several platforms at once, including the NES.

The game's plot is closely intertwined with the film, but it's worth noting that the game turned out to be quite difficult. There were 4 levels in the game, but not everyone could even complete the first mission, since several enemies attacked the main character every now and then, and the only weapons we had were fists, which we had to pound long and hard on our opponents before putting them down on their shoulder blades.

And those who completed the first level immediately got stuck on the second, where we had to escape from a truck driven by a T-1000. It's good that in subsequent missions our Iron Arnie finally got a weapon, but this did not mean that the game was easier. Although, to each his own.

In defense of the game, I will say that it turned out to be really cool and interesting. And if it were a little easier, I would definitely have finished it.

Terminator 2 (Arcade, 1991)

In the same 1991, the second part of "Terminator" was released on arcade machines. Moreover, the gameplay of the game was very different from what we had previously seen on the Dendy console.

This time, the game was a virtual shooting gallery, in which we had to shoot our enemies, including other terminators.

Last action hero (NES,1993)

In 1993, the game "Last Action Hero" was released on 8-bit consoles, based on the film of the same name. The plot centers on action star Jack Slater, who beats up enemies with his bare hands, since for some reason there are no weapons in the game.

Moreover, initially the game developers wanted to include weapons in the game, and even drew separate sprites, but in the end, Arnold Schwarzenegger himself insisted that his hero fight enemies only with his limbs.

And one more strange moment. In the game, Jack Slater for some reason wears sunglasses, while in the film he did not.

Last Action Hero (Sega Mega drive, 1993)

The game "Last Action Hero" was released not only on the 8-bit platform, but also on the 16-bit platform. The game was somewhat similar to the 8-bit version, but the characters were larger, and the graphics were much juicier.

We had to take on the role of the same Jack Slater, who must prevent his enemy Benedict from going to the real world to kill Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The game is an action platformer with fights, but between levels we will have exciting car rides, which makes the gameplay much more diverse.

True Lies (Sega Mega Drive, SNES, 1994)

Surprisingly, even a game of the same name was created for a film like "True Lies". And I think many of you played it on Sega Mega Drive or Super Nintendo consoles.

The plot of the game is closely intertwined with the plot of the film. We take on the role of Harry Tasker, who must stop terrorists with the help of various weapons that come to hand in the form of a pistol, UZI, grenades, etc.

The game was made in the action/shoot ’em up genre (top view), so the main character was not given the ability to jump. But instead, he was given a good arsenal of weapons and the ability to roll, which saved him quite often.

Also, sometimes the gameplay was complicated by the fact that there were civilians on the levels who could not be touched. And if suddenly stray bullets kill three civilians, then you will have to start the level over again.

Personally, I simply adored this game, and even completed it more than once. It impressed me with its graphics and the gameplay itself.

Terminator: Future Shock (PC, 1995)

In 1995, the world saw a 3D first-person shooter about our beloved Terminator. Finally, we were able to enjoy playing for the T-800 from the eyes, and not from the side.

We take on the role of the T-800, which must go through locations, destroying other robots with a variety of weapons. In addition, we will have the opportunity to appear in a jeep with a machine gun and even in an attack fighter.

A year later, the "Skynet" add-on was released, which was no different from the original except for the presence of a multiplayer mode.

Terminator: Fate of Dawn (PS2, 2002)

In 2002, the game "Terminator: Dawn of Destiny" was released on PlayStation 2 consoles, the plot of which, although it revolves around the first part of the game, does not repeat it. The game is a third-person action shooter, where we will have to take on the role of Kyle Reese, who must kill various robots, and also make sure that his boss John Connor is not harmed.

And despite the fact that in the game the main character has an arsenal with various weapons, he is quite good at using martial arts skills. However, I can only judge this from the videos with walkthroughs, since I personally have not played this game.

Terminator 3: War of the machines (PC, 2003)

In 2003, the game "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" was released, both on the computer and on consoles. However, these two versions were very different from each other.

The computer version of the game was a team first-person shooter in the spirit of "Counter Strike", where a team of people had to fight against a team of terminators. Therefore, in all fairness, there is nothing in common with the film except the name and some elements.

Terminator 3: War of the machines (PS2, XBOX 360, 2003)

But the console version of the game "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" was a full-fledged storyline.

This game is also a first-person shooter, where we must deal with hordes of other terminators with a variety of weapons at the ready.

Terminator 3: Redemption (PS2, XBOX 360, 2004)

A year later, another game called "Terminator 3: Redemption" was released on consoles. This time, the game was also a shooter, but from the third person, not the first.

Here we can enjoy the game for Iron Arnie in all its glory. However, it is worth noting that the game turned out to be quite "meaty". Here you will have to face hordes of enemies and enemy equipment. So throughout the game you will find shooting and explosions.

Terminator: Resistance (PC, PS5, XBOX One, 2019)

Well, in 2019, the latest game about the Terminator was released, namely "Terminator: Resistance". But I will not pay special attention to it, since Arnie himself is not in it. We will have to play as a simple ordinary resistance under the leadership of John Connor.

I will only note that "Terminator: Resistance" is a pretty good shooter with good graphics.
