A fan of the singer lost thousands of dollars believing in an affair with her idol. Her husband tried to open her eyes, but she still does not believe in a scam.

Guadalupe Cepeda has been a fan of Enrique Iglesias for more than two decades, so when the star reached out to her on social media, she could not believe it. Apparently, he found her in an online fan community, and she did not find it suspicious at all that the man who has been the dream of millions of women for almost thirty years chose her for a virtual relationship.

Their "affair" began two years ago, and despite the fact that Cepeda was married to another man, she believed that she would one day marry Iglesias. She planned to divorce her husband and run away with the Spanish superstar. But before they were supposed to be together, "Enrique" wanted her to send him money.

For two years, Guadalupe communicated with "Enrique" and eventually sent him several thousand dollars, thinking that he really needed the money. One day, when his insistence on her sending him money became too much, she told him that she no longer had a job, but he ruthlessly ordered her to steal money from her husband or find another source if she really wanted to be with him.

The woman's husband discovered the scam when he found their conversations on her phone. Only instead of confronting her and threatening to leave, he tried to "open" her eyes. He tried to explain to her that she was not really talking to Enrique Iglesias, but to some importer trying to extort money from her, but she would not hear of it. Even tracking down the source of the star's messages in Nigeria did not change her mind.

Guadalupe's husband was understanding, despite her refusal to acknowledge the obvious. He decided to go on the program Primer Impacto on the Univisión channel to tell her romantic story in the hopes of finally finding out the truth. The segment went viral and soon the world learned of her relationship with a scammer who was posing as Enrique Iglesias.

Shockingly, even after the broadcast on state television, Guadalupe is still not convinced that the man she has been exchanging messages with for the past few years is not the real Enrique Iglesias. Her husband asked the Spanish singer to come out and explain that it was not him who was talking to his wife.

"What I feel is sincere. My marriage is ending because I love you," Cepeda told the Spanish singer.

While Enrique did not initially respond to the unusual story, he recently posted a message on Instagram asking fans to be vigilant and trust only his official channels to prevent similar scams.
